Tim Who?

You are correct.

Rupaul (and many others) built their entire career on being famous for being infamous. Its an interesting way to get into the news and become known. And it works, just ask Paris Hilton. However in the end you need something more to fall back on because after your 15 minutes are up you need something to carry you through.
Money, talent, something....Anything. Because after a while the "shocking antics" just aren't funny or news worthy anymore. Just ask Dennis Rodman.

Maddona, Dennis Rodman, Boy George, and so many more used outragousness to become famous. They used their shock value to create news events and then combined their talent with their well known names and faces to become stars.

Rupaul like so many others were able to become household names because of their willingness to push the edge but after they became known they didn't have the skill or talent to stay there.

Marky Mark is a good example of an unknown that used his shock value to become famous and then worked that fame into another career as an actor. He knew that fame in and of itself would get him in the door but not sustain him. Like him or not, he did work the system correctly. Rupaul hasn't figured that out yet.

Sorry Rupaul your 15 minutes are up.
