Ghost Town

ghost4Three Years of Hell to Become the Devil, one of the blawgs (law blogs) I've been reading lately has an interesting post up that links to an eerie photo essay by a woman biking through the remains of Chernobyl.

Personally, you couldn't pay me to do it. But the photographs remind me of Derrick Jensen's writing about the coming crash of civilization, and seem to be a glimpse into what might remain after the end. It's worth clicking through to look at the pictures, and to read the commentary.

I would SO love to do that. I've seen that site before but lost the link in a computer crash (thanks for posting it!) I've never seen more powerful photos, I can only imagine what seeing it in person would be like.

Hey, thanks T! for the great "desolate distraction". That was fascinating to me, especially since my daughter is adopted from Russia and I got to visit there when I picked her up. Some of those children in the Kindergarten photos resembled her and the whole style of architecture and especially the white birch trees really took me back to some of my life's happier moments.
Elena LOVES her motorcycle, I'll bet it's a prized posession there - it's nice to visit a culture where people take pride in what they have instead of lusting for more and more. Thanks again!
